According to the CPFSA, investigations revealed that the male students allegedly lured the schoolgirl to a house where the assault occurred, and the incident was recorded. The CPFSA stated that the girl is scheduled to undergo a medical assessment today. The agency has also stepped in to provide psychological support for the teenager. “We became aware of the video early Saturday morning, November 23, 2024. Our investigative team located the victim and her family and met with them on Sunday, November 24, 2024, offering brief counseling. The child has since been referred to the Victims Services Division for further assistance,” explained Laurette Adams-Thomas, head of the CPFSA. Adams-Thomas strongly condemned the act, describing it as despicable. “The increasing levels of violence among our children are deeply troubling. In order to accommodate the increasing popularity of the event, the Police Department will be utilizing the Emergency Management Department’s heavy-duty transportation vehicle. This new decision was prompted by the overwhelming communal response to the toy drive in previous years. For example, in 2022, one of the cruisers was stuffed so full of toys that it had to be emptied out multiple times before it could make more collections. The following year, two additional cruisers had to be used. Gifts for children will be collected in the Humvee, which will be parked in front of the police station until Dec. 15. The Police Department requested that the gifts be new, unwrapped, and appropriate for ages 5 to 13. A few suggestions for gifts are Lego sets, board games, sketchbooks and sporting goods. Police say Rhonda Fishell used a Missouri driver's license and numerous credit and debit cards that she had falsely obtained. When contacted by law enforcement, Fishell allegedly presented a Missouri driver's license with someone else's name. That license was not valid in Missouri. A person with the same name and date of birth was located in Indiana. That person was not Fishell. She also provided a Social Security card with the name of the other person. During the investigation, Fishell provided her real name. She also provided credit cards and debit cards with the name of the other person, which she admitted were falsely obtained. Five different debit and credit cards were found in her possession, all containing other people's information. In Hall County Court on Friday, Fishell was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument, one count of criminal possession of a financial transaction device and one count of false reporting. Biden converted the sentences of 37 federal death row inmates to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. The inmates include people convicted in the slayings of police and military officers, as well as federal prisoners and guards. Others were involved in deadly robberies and drug deals. Three inmates will remain on federal death row: Dylann Roof , convicted of the 2015 racist slayings of nine Black members of Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina; the 2013 Boston Marathon Bomber, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev , and Robert Bowers, who fatally shot 11 congregants at Pittsburgh’s Tree of life Synagogue in 2018 , the deadliest antisemitic attack in U.S history. Nathalie Tocci, director of the Rome-based Institute for International Affairs think tank, warned that inserting the ICC warrant into the G7 agenda was risky, since the U.S. is the lone member that is not a signatory to the court and yet tends to dictate the G7 line. “If Italy and the other (five G7) signatories of the ICC are unable to maintain the line on international law, they will not only erode it anyway but will be acting against our interests,” Tocci wrote in La Stampa daily this weekend, recalling Italy’s recourse to international law in demanding protection for Italian U.N. peacekeepers who have come under fire in southern Lebanon. The other major talking point of the G7 meeting is Ukraine , and tensions have only heightened since Russia attacked Ukraine last week with an experimental, hypersonic ballistic missile that escalated the nearly 33-month-old war. Russian President Vladimir Putin said the strike was retaliation for Kyiv’s use of U.S. and British longer-range missiles capable of striking deeper into Russian territory. The G7 has been at the forefront of providing military and economic support for Ukraine since Russia’s invasion in February 2022 and G7 members are particularly concerned about how a Trump administration will change the U.S. approach. Trump has criticized the billions of dollars that the Biden administration has poured into Ukraine and has said he could end the war in 24 hours, comments that appear to suggest he would press Ukraine to surrender territory that Russia now occupies. “It’s hugely important that this G7, that all colleagues across the G7 continue to stand with Ukraine for as long as it lasts,” British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said as he arrived. He announced new sanctions on vessels of Russia's “shadow fleet” of ships that are evading sanctions to export Russian oil. “And we are confident that Ukraine can have the funds and the military equipment and kit to get through 2025,” Lammy said. The G7 foreign ministers’ meeting, the second of the Italian presidency after ministers gathered in Capri in April , is being held in the medieval town of Fiuggi southeast of Rome, best known for its thermal spas. On Monday, which coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, ministers were attending the inauguration of a red bench meant to symbolize Italy’s focus on fighting gender-based violence. Over the weekend, tens of thousands of people marched in Rome to protest gender-based violence , which in Italy so far this year has claimed the lives of 99 women, according to a report last week by the Eures think tank.
